We’re glad you asked!
“Repurpose, reuse and recycle” are all buzzwords of this millennium. ♻️ People from all walks of life are recycling pieces and giving old items new life. You may recycle your newspapers and glass, donate old clothing to a thrift shop or paint and reupholster junk-shop furniture to give it a facelift, but have you ever considered “upcycling” your unrepairable or out-of-date diamond jewelry into new pieces that you’ll be excited to wear every day?
If the answer is “yes”, keep reading! 👍
Custom doesn't always mean starting from the ground up...we can also take something you like and make changes to create something you LOVE!😍 One of our couples came in to have her original ring
repaired and a broken baguette diamond replaced.
She loved her unique ring, but never had a wedding band to match. So Julee talked with them about creating a custom wedding band. During the conversation, they decided to remake the engagement ring and create TWO bands to fit together perfectly. Here is a computer rendering of the new piece.
It turned out amazing! And our customers were thrilled. Here is her new ring.
WOW!
Restyling
Whether you inherited an old ring, pendant or pin from a relative, are upgrading your wedding jewelry or simply outgrew the style of certain pieces in your jewelry wardrobe, repurposing the diamonds into new and exciting jewelry is a great way to enhance your jewelry collection.
For example, a customer inherited this ring but didn’t feel that it fit her style.
So, she talked with
Julee about removing the diamonds from the original ring and using all of the diamonds of similar color and clarity to create a brand new, contemporary ring that is much more her style! Here’s what they came up with.
Several Somethings Old Into Something New!
Sometimes you may have a piece of jewelry that is not able to be repaired. Sadly, not all jewelry is created equal, and you may have a piece that is brittle, porous, or not structurally sound. Remounting or recreating a piece of jewelry is a great way to preserve your gemstones. Often, we can design a piece to look like the original, or you can take the opportunity to design something completely different!
This customer had diamonds and an emerald from several different pairs of
earrings, a
pendant and a
ring that couldn’t be repaired.
So, Julee worked with her to measure the gemstones and create a single piece of jewelry with all the stones incorporated into it. This is the finished product: a completely unique piece of contemporary jewelry that has a story.
Total Transformation
Instead of purchasing
brand-new complete pieces, you can wear your cherished diamonds in new and more fashionable ways. Your new piece will have so much sentimental value if you use stones you have inherited. Eventually, when you pass the new piece down, you can also share the story of how it came to be. You’ll create a tangible way to bridge generations for years to come.
You may have a
diamond engagement ring that was your own or handed down through generations and you have a completely different vision in mind. Take this diamond solitaire ring for example.
The customer had received her late mother's engagement ring and decided she didn’t want to wear it as a ring. She loves sapphires too and decided to create a pendant featuring the diamond from her mom's wedding set. Here’s the stunning result:
You can even
offset some of the cost of creating your new piece of jewelry with the gold from your existing mounting. Once we remove your gemstones from your jewelry, it can be “scrapped” (sent to the refinery to melt down and recycle the gold and alloy metals). Based on its gold composition and weight, the old piece of jewelry will provide you a credit to use toward the creation of your new piece.
